In Class 2, we have the privilege of teaching the children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. The children work extremely well together and are respectful of each other, regardless of age or year group, demonstrating a strong sense of community.
We follow the 2014 Primary National Curriculum in England. For English, Maths, Religious Education (RE), Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and Computing, we divide into two smaller classes (Year 3/4 together and Year 5/6 together). Everyone joins together as a whole Key Stage for our learning in the other curriculum areas of Science, History, Geography, Physical Education (PE), Spanish, Music, Art and Design and Technology.
Class 2 have daily guided reading sessions, where the children are exposed to wide range of engaging extracts and texts through John Murray's 'Reading Explorers', enabling them to practice and develop their comprehension skills. To further develop and promote a love of reading for pleasure, a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books is available to choose from (as home reader books). Additionally, a dedicated daily 'story time' session is weaved into the class timetable, where children can simply enjoy listening to someone reading aloud to them.
